Primary Music Memo - January 2010
I thought that it might be fun this year to give the children Primary Music Memos to take home with them. This simple little memo will share the Monthly Primary Song, where to find the Lyrics, and ideas for Family Home Evening.
This is a GREAT idea! Is there any way I can print this out to share with my primary? I'm a recently called Music Leader (this is my 5th time in the calling, but it's been a LONG time...) and am looking for ways to get my Senior and Jr. primary kids interested in singing. I think I'll use your club idea - after passing it by my President; whom I'm sure will agree that it's a great idea. Thanks for all you do for this!!!
Of course you can print this out. Have fun presenting the idea to the Primary Children. I think being the Ward Music Leader is the BEST calling you could ever have in the Ward.
We are working on both ideas. I'll post them ASAP. I'm not sure if they will be up before tomorrow, but we'll try. Please continue to stay in touch with us. I love hearing from all of you!!!
Jennifer , just wanted to tell you that I made the memos and then made a little pocket for them titled: Hickory Flat Ward Primary Parents Take One Memo
And then the memos slip inside and I'm putting them on one of those picture stands, and placing outside relief society room on table. I will also give to every teacher in primary who has children in primary.
And , actually I asked earlier about adding the scripture of the month, but since I'm only doing the scripture of the month and lanyard badges with Sr. primary, I think the scripture of the month doesn't need to be on the memo necessarily. But, if you think so,this first month it's ok, cuz the song does not have a scripture with it since it's not in CS. I chose 3 Nephi 17:23,24. I will have each class of Senior stand and recite it each week , and I made the scripture of the month into a bookmark for them to read and then take home to place in the scripture and then asking them to mark it. I told them at the end of the year one of the rewards they would earn for the "Singing Praises Club" would be a marker. I am planning on giving them each a pencil marker and 2010 theme picture on 3x5 framed somehow. I'm thinking of getting a paper matting that they can have teacher and class member sign around the picture at end of year. Something like that.
I made the badges by purchasing the plastic badge and placing the neato printout Jennifer designed inside it, then I purchased badge clips for the boys and then bought 1 inch wide ribbon that has the cross grain in it and it's striped on both sides in pink and black stripes and then cut them one yard each and placed card in and then sewed together at ends. It saved me lots of money. The ribbon was $1 for 5 yards. I had to make 50 of these, heh heh!
Oh, I forgot to say I made the ribbon badges for the girls. They boys got the clips. I just thought the boys would like clipping them on ties, pockets or shirts and girls would like the ribbons. But, I guess you could use a solid color like black or brown for all kids to put on.
Thanks for sharing your ideas with all of us. It sounds to me like we all had way too much fun today in Primary. Isn't this GREAT! I love your idea of having an area for the parents to get the Primary Music Memos. I also like your twist to the Music Club. You'll have to email me some pictures. Maybe we can post them and share them with our other friends on-line.

Enjoy!

I love this idea too. Are you going to post new ones for each month? I would love to get them. Just let me know. Thanks!

Having the scripture of the month that goes with the song would be an addition I'd like to do. I don't know if I can add anything to the Memo though.
