Take Action Cards

I love sharing challenges with the youth that allow them to TAKE ACTION.  A while back, I asked the youth to take these simple TAKE ACTION CARDS with them to school.  The challenge was for them to TAKE ACTION doing each of the suggestions on the card then pass the card forward to a friend or teacher at school inviting them to do the same.  I loved the stories that came back the next day.  They had so many miracles take place by simply taking action and making a difference in the life of another person.  Try it and see if it works!  Feel free to create your own TAKE ACTION CARDS!  Great activity for all ages.

Knock, Knock, Who's There?

In March of 2015, I was asked to put together a game for a Seminary Super Saturday.  The game needed to be based off of seminary related topics and missionary work.  I thought about how much fun it must be to be a missionary going door to door preaching the gospel.  Thus, the name of this game quickly became Knock, Knock, Who's There?

We set up the primary room with the game cards on the floor - see attached!  The youth started at the card that read Knock, Knock, Who's There.  With each roll of the dice, the youth paired up two by two would move from one end of the game board to the other depending on the number they rolled.  The goal was to see how many people they could convert to the Gospel and baptize.  At the end of the game, points were tallied and a winner was chosen.  Points were generated based off the number converted per game card.  The game cards were divided into the following categories:  scripture mastery worth 4 points/4 new investigators, basic doctrine worth 3 points/3 new investigators, mission prep worth 2 points/2 new investigators and generic church questions worth 1 point or 1 new investigator.

There were additional small game cards, which you can create on your own based off of your personal needs for your group.  This was tons of fun - sorry the pictures of this activity and the cards are not great!

Book of Mormon Challenge

Wonderful tool for anyone challenging the youth or others to read The Book of Mormon.  The Book of Mormon if read with an open heart will change your life just as President Benson promises that it will.

Become The Kind Of Person You Would Like To Date

These are some great tips to share with the youth.   So many are trying to mold others to be what they would like them to be vs. looking at themselves in the mirror first.  This was another fun camp handout.

Kindness Begins With Me

After not posting on Beehive Messages for a few years, I thought I would catch up with some files that I don't believe I have shared.  This is a Kindness file that I used at a Young Women's Camp back in 2011.  I'm going to try to catch up with lots more files so be watching for more random stuff!

Enjoy!

Scripture Reading Ideas

I love to read the Holy Scriptures!

With this being a 5th Sunday our ward has planned a special 3rd hour focusing on Family Scripture Study.  I've been asked to share a few tips/ideas for reading the scriptures together with your family.  Our ward is going to be focusing on this throughout the year so while I'm in visiting with the adults, with other speakers from the ward, the youth and primary will also be receiving a message on Family Scripture Study.  We love reading the scriptures together as a family and have tried many different scripture reading ideas over the years.  I thought I would share some of those with you and with everyone tomorrow.  Who knows...it might just spark something new you could try and if you have an idea you would like to share I would love that too!  We have in our home two children in High School and a Pre-Schooler so our scripture study time has to be one that all will enjoy.

With that said...here are a few of the ideas I plan on sharing tomorrow -

Additional Tips:

Don't forget to carry an additional copy of the Book of Mormon with you at all times to share with a friend or stranger that might be interested in learning more about the church.
Sit down with your children every month to read the scriptures found in the Personal Progress Pamphlet, Duty to God, and Faith in God Booklets.

While Visiting Teaching and Home Teaching ask to share a scripture with those you are visiting with.  If they are unable to read or ill read to them.

If you would like a copy of the Scripture Reading Ideas shown above please comment here or email me at jennifer.hawkins@hotmail.com or beehivemessages@gmail.com.  Be sure to leave me your email address so I can get a copy to you quickly.

Young Women's Activity - Nutcracker Holiday Activity

Being a dancer...I love the story of the Nutcracker that is shared during the Christmas Holiday.  I was excited to hear that my sister Amy's Ward was planning a Nutcracker Young Women's Activity this month to ring in the holiday's.  Here is the activity that they put together for the Young Women in their Ward.  It's darling!

Step One...decorate the Young Women's Room to look like the Land of Sweets!  YUM!

Step Two...as the Young Women enter into the Young Women's Room have them greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy.  The Sugar Plum Fairy will go through all of the songs from the Nutcracker while the Young Women Leaders hand out treats that go with each.

Step Three...the outline for the party

     a. Chocolate (Spanish Hot Chocolate Performers—hot cocoa)
     b. Coffee (Arabian Coffee Performers—“toffee”)
     c. Tea (Chinese Tea Performers—fortune cookies)
     d. Trepak (Russian Candy Cane Performers—candy canes)
     e. Dance of the Mirlitons [also known as "Dance of the Reed-Flutes"] (Danish Marzipan  Shepherdess Performers—Pirouette cookies because they sound like dance and look like a flute)
     f. Mother Ginger and Her Children (gingerbread men)
     g. Waltz of the Flowers (cupcakes with frosting flowers on top)
     h. Pas de Deux: Sugar-Plum Fairy and her Cavalier (Young Women Learn how to dance from the Sugar Plum Fairy)

Step Four...Clara wakes up from her dream next to her Christmas tree with her beloved nutcracker in her arms. Give nutcrackers to the Young Women as a holiday gift.

Young Women's Leadership Training - RACE TO SUCCESS!

Start Your ENGINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received the cutest phone call yesterday morning from my sister, Amy.  She was all excited about an activity that they were having last evening at the church.  Working with her Young Women's Presidency, they wanted to have a fun and unique way to help the Young Women Class Presidencies understand what their responsibilities were in working together as a unit.  They decided that they would go with a RACE CAR THEME...how cute!?  They made a race car out of cardboard (you'll notice the wheels are black helium balloons), put up some cute decorations, got the Bishopric involved, and had donuts available for dessert.  The Young Women in the Class Presidency's were invited to participate as a RACE CAR THEME TRAINING SKIT was read.  One class at a time they were able to race around the TRACK to the FINISH LINE!  You'll have to take some time to read the skit.  It is way darling and certainly gets the point across that any leader would want to make in teaching their girls that they have to work together as a team to get things done and finish the race.  I was told they LOVED IT!  The RACE CAR was even SPONSORED.  Check out the cute SPONSOR STICKERS.  The Bishopric at the end of the meeting went around the room as the PIT CREW making sure the ladies had plenty to drink.  They served Apple Juice with Sprite from a GAS CAN (a new one of course!).

This idea would work for any sort of leadership training.  Don't be shy in asking for a copy of the RACE CAR SKIT, SPONSOR STICKERS, and PROGRAM.  You can request these by commenting here or emailing me directly at jennifer.hawkins@hotmail.com.  Please be sure to leave me your email address!
