Camp Opening Ceremonies - International Games & Dinner
We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us. We come from all walks of life and from around the world. Join us as we take some time to learn about the Young Women’s Program from around the world through stories, games, dinner and fun!
For our opening ceremonies this year we assigned each ward a country that they would represent. Each ward put together their own costume/outfit, made a flag, and put together a 2 to 3 minute story based on the Young Women's program from that country to share with the rest of us at camp. We started with our first country and paraded around camp picking up each ward one at a time. This helped the Young Women to see where the rest of the ward's were staying at the camp facility. Boy oh boy were the costumes neat!
After the stories were shared...we had the girls change into play clothes. We headed to one of the large fields and played games from around the world. Each ward researched games that were either originated in their country or a game that is played today and is popular. We played everything from Red Rover to competing against each other on wooden skies.
At the end of the day we finished off by having each ward decorate a table based on their country and had an international dinner (spaghetti dinner). Books from some of the countries were also on display. Music was played from each country as an added touch.
