Primary Music Idea - Musical Mayflower

It's time to sail to America!  Primary Children will love this Primary Music Time idea as they get to pretend that they are Pilgrims coming to America.  Messages will be shared about their journey and the joy that they must have felt once they arrived.  I'm sure these thankful Pilgrims performed many acts of service prior to their arrival as well as service once they were here in America.  Each Primary Child will receive a Pilgrim Hat to wear during Music Time and a little paper cup Mayflower Boat to take home that they can use to sing the songs found on the sail of the boat based on Service and Thanksgiving.  These are also the songs that can be sung during the Music Time portion of Primary.

I made our Primary Pilgrim Hats out of black computer paper.  I've punched holes on each side, but only attached the black yarn to one side so the teachers and adjust the size for each child in their class.

The Mayflower Boats were made out of small plastic cups.  I choose to use clear.  I took two different shades of blue tissue paper and cut squares to attach with glue to the bottom of the cup.  Then, I filled each plastic cup with M&M's (my personal favorite) and stuck a colored straw with the sail inside.  The sail template is shown above.  Simply punch a hole on the top and bottom and slide the straw right in. 

Off we go on a fun adventure!!!
