This was something new we tried this year. I assigned four YCL'S to be in charge of sharing a THOUGHT OF THE DAY via a Children's Book or Story. Each Young Lady was given the story to share and then they had to add their own personal spiritual thought to tie in with what they had read to the other campers. There were some very touching moments as each of these stories tied in with our camp theme.
Here are the stories they shared:
Tuesday Morning - THE ANTS AND THE BALLOON
This story is found in the book Making Peace with the Image In The Mirror starting on page 138. The ants are on a search for happiness and they quickly learn that the balloon is not honey. It continues to talk about peer pressure and learning to not be a follower.
Wednesday Morning - THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER
This beautifully illustrated children's story talks about good works, service, and so much more.
Thursday Morning - THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER
I love that this story teaches all of us to be prepared!
Friday Morning - OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!
What can I say...Dr. Seuss expressed everything I was thinking about the girls...Oh, the Places You'll Go and the things you'll be able to do some day.
