Primary Music Idea - Conversation Hearts

One thing that I LOVE about Valentine's Day are the CONVERSATION HEARTS. Yum! Because of my LOVE for candy hearts I decided that I would create Primary Music Conversation Hearts to be used the week of Valentine's Day. My plan is to talk to our Primary Pianist about playing songs that week about LOVE. While the children are sitting in their chairs I'm going to hand one of them CUPID. The Primary children will pass CUPID around the room until the Pianist stops playing the music. Whom ever is holding CUPID will get to come up front and pick out of the heart basket a CONVERSATION HEART. Each heart has a different skill that we will do the next time around while we work on the song that we are singing. CUPID will continue to be passed. After our Music Time is over...I want to bear my Testimony and tell the children how important it is to have CONVERSATIONS with our Heavenly Father each day by saying our Morning and Evening Prayers. I plan on encouraging each of them to do so throughout the week. To remind them...I have purchased some mini bags of CONVERSATION HEARTS that I'm placing in a little paper bag that I made with a label on the front that says HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER. My hope is that each child will remember that they are loved by their Primary Leaders, Family, and Heavenly Father.

CONVERSATION HEART SKILLS:

LEAD - Have this child lead the music
HUM - Have all of the children hum the song instead of singing the words
CLAP - Use quiet clapping to beat out the rhythm of the song
TURN - Have the Primary Children stand and turn in a circle while singing
SHHH - Sing the words very quietly
MEOW - Meow the song like a kitten
BARK - Bark the song like a dog
SLOW - Sing the words to the song super slow
FAST - How fast can you sing?
PICK - Allow the child that picks this heart to choose which song you will sing

I made the CONVERSATION HEARTS out of foam and black lettering that I cut out on my Cricut Machine. I have made copies of these in case you don't have time to make your own and you just want to print and cut them out. Please let me know if you can't open these files and I'll email them to you directly. Cupid is a cut out that I purchased from the store. If you don't have a Cupid you can use...you can always use another Valentine's Day object.

Happy MUSICAL Valentine's Sunday!!!

Would you mind e-mailing you files for your pennants, as well. I love that idea and I'm not very talented on the computer. Since we have 140 children in Primary, I better start working on the pennants right away. Thanks you so much!! You are so creative and talented!

Hi Ladies...

The emails have been sent. I hope you receive the CONVERSATION HEART attachments. Melissa...it sounds like you must be up North in the DEEP SNOW. I heard that part of the country is going to receive more snow this weekend. WOW!!! Ladies...thank you so much for contacting me. I loved hearing from both of you.

Happy Valentine's WEEK!

Such a cute idea. I know my primary kids would love doing this. We were supposed to have stake conference this Sunday, but with the bad weather just north of us they have postponed it. This would work great for my music time. If you could email me the file for the Have a conversation with your heavenly father label? Thanks so much!

Can you please send your files for this so I can prepare it for tomorrow. Just found out our Primary chorister is sick so we are going to have to something fun and fast. We have a small Primary so Junior and Senior are not split up. I need to work on this tonight. I am a new Primary President and I find a lot of ideas on Pinterest and this works.
