Young Women's Activity - Nutcracker Holiday Activity

Being a dancer...I love the story of the Nutcracker that is shared during the Christmas Holiday.  I was excited to hear that my sister Amy's Ward was planning a Nutcracker Young Women's Activity this month to ring in the holiday's.  Here is the activity that they put together for the Young Women in their Ward.  It's darling!

Step One...decorate the Young Women's Room to look like the Land of Sweets!  YUM!

Step Two...as the Young Women enter into the Young Women's Room have them greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy.  The Sugar Plum Fairy will go through all of the songs from the Nutcracker while the Young Women Leaders hand out treats that go with each.

Step Three...the outline for the party

     a. Chocolate (Spanish Hot Chocolate Performers—hot cocoa)
     b. Coffee (Arabian Coffee Performers—“toffee”)
     c. Tea (Chinese Tea Performers—fortune cookies)
     d. Trepak (Russian Candy Cane Performers—candy canes)
     e. Dance of the Mirlitons [also known as "Dance of the Reed-Flutes"] (Danish Marzipan  Shepherdess Performers—Pirouette cookies because they sound like dance and look like a flute)
     f. Mother Ginger and Her Children (gingerbread men)
     g. Waltz of the Flowers (cupcakes with frosting flowers on top)
     h. Pas de Deux: Sugar-Plum Fairy and her Cavalier (Young Women Learn how to dance from the Sugar Plum Fairy)

Step Four...Clara wakes up from her dream next to her Christmas tree with her beloved nutcracker in her arms. Give nutcrackers to the Young Women as a holiday gift.
